Amount of diluent to add = V₂ − V₁
Formula: C₁V₁ = C₂V₂, so V₂ = C₁V₁ / C₂. C₁ and C₂ must use the same concentration unit; V₂ and the solvent are shown in the selected volume unit. "Solvent to add" assumes volumes are additive — a good approximation for dilute aqueous solutions.
