BMI & Fertility: What the Evidence Says
Body mass index (BMI) is a simple screening measure of weight relative to height. For fertility, both extremes matter: very low BMI can shut down ovulation, while high BMI alters hormone levels, egg quality and embryo implantation.
Studies show women with a BMI of 18.5–24.9 have the highest live birth rates after IVF. If your BMI falls outside this range, don't panic — even a modest weight change (5–10%) can restore ovulation and improve IVF outcomes.
